TwinShip Marks 18 Months of Progress at its 3rd General Assembly in Vaasa, Finland!
| Today, 8-9 th September 2026, the TwinShip Horizon Europe project consortium gathered for its 3rd General Assembly (GA). 🏭 The program started at the Wärtsilä Marine Sustainable Technology Hub, Vaasa, and visit to the Wärtsilä facility, followed by technical discussions and activities onboard the Wasaline ferry, including a visit to its engine observation room providing an excellent setting for connecting our research and digital developments with real-world maritime operations. 🤝 The TwinShip consortium is developing an open-source digital platform powered by maritime data, advanced AI/ML, and Digital Twin (DT) technologies. 📊 The General Assembly provides an important opportunity to review our achievements, align ongoing technical developments, and coordinate the next phase of the project. Key topics discussed during the meeting include: 🔹 Overall TwinShip project progress, completed activities, and future work 🔹 Expansion of the Futuristic Vessel concept, including WAP technology 🔹 Knowledge Graph (KG) development and integration 🔹 Communication and integration with the External platforms 🔹 Advanced data clustering, regression analysis, and categorization 🔹 Development of Digital Twin models for the TwinShip pilot vessels 🔹 Enhancement of the Data Quality Governance Strategy and data pipelines 🔹 Further development and deployment of the VesselAI onboard and onshore simulation environment 🔹 Route optimization as a current vessel Decision Support System (DSS) application 🔹 Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) as future DSS applications 🌊 Through close collaboration between research and industry, TwinShip continues to advance Digital Twin-enabled decision support solutions for smarter, safer, more energy-efficient, and sustainable shipping. |
